This How You can Deal With Weight Loss & Its Effects on Fertility.

Almost 20 years, every stage in Eniola’s life cycle involved a target for weight loss, which she failed to achieve. After her first child, she was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), which created an imbalance in her cycle resulting in her inability to conceive successfully a second time. Her menstruation was irregular, occurring quarterly, and when it eventually did, the bleeding lasted for almost two to three weeks. It was beyond bumpy for her as her hormones were out of control.

Despite being on a cocktail of drugs and fertility treatments for 10 years, Eniola recorded a total of three miscarriages, two ectopic pregnancies, and tube removal. It was extremely difficult for her to come to terms with her inability to conceive successfully until she was thrown a question that changed her life. “Have you tried losing weight?”, a doctor asked Eniola answered swiftly backing up with the exercise and numerous diets she had done. Her response echoed many thoughts leading to her research and discovery of the Cambridge Weight Plan. For the first time in 23 years, after being on the Cambridge Weight Plan for six months and losing 50kg, Eniola got pregnant without fertility treatment.

This and so many other scenarios showcase a lack of understanding of the many factors that contribute to infertility. Being overweight leads to imbalances in a woman’s hormones that might not be seen physically, hence causing infertility.

Studies released by the National Center for Biotechnology Information shows that losing as little as 5% of body weight can dramatically improve fertility in women. The idea is to have a body healthy enough to enable a fetus to grow and blossom into a healthy child. The way to measure a healthy weight range is by calculating the Body Mass Index (BMI), which is simply calculating height and weight. Typically, a BMI between 18 and 25 is considered healthy. Any numbers below the minimum or above the maximum indicates a condition of being underweight or overweight.

Once the right body mass index has been achieved, the chances of pregnancy become higher and there is a reduction in pregnancy complications. Overweight women run a higher risk of miscarriage, high blood pressure that will, in turn, affect the heart rate of the fetus, cervical infection, blood clotting, induced labor, premature birth, and even stillbirth. In any case, if a woman successfully conceives and births a child, the child is more likely to face challenges such as growth defects and other health problems.

The Cambridge Weight Plan comes highly recommended for any individual looking to shed weight and increase chances of conceiving. It is a safe, low-calorie diet plan, and an effective weight management and lifestyle plan that fosters healthy living.
